Welcome to the website of the United States
Association of Consecrated Virgins (USACV) a new website is under construction

A voluntary association of consecrated virgins living in the world.  The purpose of the USACV is to provide support to its members in the faithful living out of their vocation to consecrated virginity and "…to assist one another in service to the Church as befits their state" (Canon 604, Code of Canon Law).   The USACV website is designed both to serve our members and to provide information about the vocation of consecrated virginity lived in the world.

The Most Blessed Virgin Mary is our primary patroness, and Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, Virgin, the first native American to be canonized, is also a patroness of the USACV.  We hope you will enjoy browsing the pages of this website to learn more about the ancient vocation of consecrated virginity, newly restored in the Church in 1970 for women living in the world.

The 2026 Information Conference on the Ordo Virginum

The United States Association of Consecrated Virgins hosts information conferences annually.

The conference is designed to give an introductory, but fairly in-depth, look at significant aspects of the vocation of consecrated virginity: its ecclesial identification, history, spirituality, lived experience, prerequisites for admission, and requisite formation.  The conference includes times of prayer, questions and answers, and personal testimonials from consecrated virgins. Bishop Earl Boyea, Episcopal Moderator for the USACV, offers a presentation; other speakers include prepared consecrated virgin.

Anyone with a serious interest in the vocation is invited to attend: those inquiring for themselves, those in formation with a diocese (applicants or candidates), diocesan personnel involved in the preparation of virgins for consecration (often delegates for consecrated life or vocation directors), and consecrated virgins themselves.

New: Ordo Virginum Candidtate Discussion Group

Beginning in fall 2023, the United States Association of Consecrated Virgins has sponsored a quarterly opportunity for candidates for the Ordo virginum, who are referred by a diocesan representative, to participate in a virtual candidate discussion group on topics relevant to the vocation of consecrated virginity.

Click here for an announcement regarding the Ordo Virginum Virtual Candidate Discussion Group.  Registration information and online registration forms are available here: OV Candidate Discussion Group Registration.

Diocesan personnel responsible for discernment and formation for the vocation of consecrated virginity have frequently asked the USACV's assistance in working with aspirants and candidates.  The Ordo Virginum Candidate Discussion  Group will be limited to those who are referred by their dioceses adn is intended for those who have already attended an Information Conference, sponsored by the USACV.  The discussion group offers a supplement, and not a substitute, for diocesan-based information.

Note: consecrated virgins are also welcome to participate!

For disarmament and peace
Let us pray that nations move toward effective disarmament, particularly nuclear disarmament, and that the world leaders choose the path of dialogue and diplomacy instead of violence.
